Alison Lewis
Hello my name is Alison Lewis, I was born and have lived most of my life in the Pontypridd area.
I have been involved in sport from a very young age representing my primary school in athletics. I then attended Ysgol Gyfun Ryydfelin where I continued to represent the school in athletics, netball and hockey.
At the age of 12 I became interested in martial arts, attending the Pontypridd kyoukushinkai karate school. At the age of 15 I became the Welsh senior champion. This tournament I went on to win a further three times. I was also the British kata champion, British all styles wuko champion and British ladies clicher champion. I was also fortunate enough around this time to be runner up in the European ladies clicher championship.
At the age of 16 I attained my 1st Dan black belt then at 18 my 2nd Dan black belt. I have also coached the Welsh junior wuko team dealing with children aged 10 to 16 years.I have had numerous welsh and British caps taking me to tournaments all over Europe. I have also done several triathlons and played netball at senior county level.
Later on in life I became interested in women’s rugby, playing at county level then going on to be chosen to go on the wing seven times for wales.
I feel that the gym is a place for all abilities, ages and sizes, nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing someone join the gym and improve in a short space of time.
